Snakes & Ladders — Privacy Policy
Overview
Snakes & Ladders ("the App") is the classic dice board game, played against a computer opponent or by two to four people sharing one device. This policy explains what information is involved when you use the App and how it's handled.
The short version: the App does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. Your games, statistics and settings stay on your device.
Information We Collect
None. The App has no account creation, no sign-in, and no password. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, photos, or any device identifiers, including the Advertising ID.
The current version of the App contains no advertising and no analytics or crash-reporting services.
Information Stored On Your Device
The App saves a small amount of information locally so it can remember it between sessions. It never leaves your device and we have no access to it:
Game in progress — the board of an unfinished game (where each token is and whose turn it is), so you can resume it later.
Statistics — games played, wins and losses against the computer, pass & play games, your current and best winning streaks, your fastest win, and how many ladders were climbed, snakes were hit and sixes were rolled.
Settings — sound and volume, background music, game speed, the number of players last chosen for pass & play, and whether play reminders are switched on.
Internal flags — small housekeeping values, such as whether the intro has been shown, when the App last checked for an update, and how many games you have finished (used to time the review prompt described below).
How We Use This Information
We don't, because we never receive it. The information above is read and written by the App on your own device, purely to run the game — to resume your game, show your record, and remember your preferences. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or analytics, and it is not sold or shared with anyone.
Where This Information Is Stored
In the App's private storage area on your phone, which other apps cannot read. There is no account, no cloud sync, and no server-side copy. If you install the App on a different device, it starts fresh.
Notifications
If you switch on play reminders in Settings, the App schedules them on your device, by your device. Nothing about them is sent to us or to anyone else — we do not know whether a reminder was delivered, seen, or opened.
Reminders are only sent after you have not opened the App for a while, never while you are playing, and there are at most three before they stop on their own. Opening the App resets them. You can switch them off at any time in the App's Settings or in your device's notification settings, and the App works exactly the same with them off.
Permissions
The App never asks for a permission when you first open it.
Notifications — asked for only if you switch on play reminders in Settings. Declining it does not affect anything else.
The Android package also declares these permissions, which do not show a prompt:
Internet and network state — used only for the update check described below.
Run at startup and keep awake — let reminders you have switched on still arrive after your phone restarts. They do nothing if reminders are off.
Modify audio settings — used to play the game's sound effects and music.
App badge permissions for some phone launchers are included by the notification library the App uses; the App does not set app badges.
The App does not access your camera, microphone, location, contacts, files, or photos.
Update Checks
The App makes one kind of network request: about once a day, and when you tap "Check for updates" in Settings, it fetches a small file from our server to see whether a newer version is available. The request sends no information about you — no identifiers, no game data, and no device details beyond what any web request necessarily includes, such as your IP address. We do not store that address or use it to identify you.
The App is otherwise fully playable offline; the computer opponent runs entirely on your phone.
Third-Party Services
The current version of the App uses no third-party advertising or analytics services.
After you have finished several games, the App may ask Google Play's built-in review prompt to appear. That dialog is shown and handled entirely by Google Play; we receive nothing from it, including whether you left a review or what rating you gave. The "Rate on Google Play" and "Share this app" options in Settings open Google Play or your phone's share sheet, and only when you tap them.
If this changes in a future version — for example, if in-app advertising is added — this policy will be updated to reflect it before that change takes effect.
Purchases
There are none. The whole game is free to play and the App asks for no payment information.
Children's Privacy
The App is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, which means it collects none from children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, and the App contains no mechanism by which a child could send personal information to us or to anyone else.
Your Choices
Everything the App stores is on your device and under your control. You can clear your statistics with Settings → Reset statistics, erase everything with Settings → Reset all data, or uninstall the App, which permanently removes its local storage.
Because we hold no data about you, there is no account to close and no data request for us to fulfil.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App evolves. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
